Fall Classic Final Game Draws 51M Audience Members In the US, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The nail-biting extended clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Blue Jays 5-4 attracted a aggregate over 50 million spectators in the United States, Canadian, and Japan markets. MLB reported this marks the highest-rated World Series Game 7 since the 1991 edition contest between the Twins and Braves.

Television Viewership Details

Last Saturday’s memorable contest drew over 27 million viewers on Fox networks, its Spanish-language channel and their digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the week.

It also is the top-rated World Series game since the 2017 Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This marks a sixteen percent increase compared to the last Game 7 between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked fourth, the fourth game ranked 7th, the fifth game came in eighth, and the third game finished in thirteenth place.

Global Audience Figures

In the Canadian market, the game averaged over 11 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the most-watched English broadcast in the country after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it averaged 12M. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – in which Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six innings – averaged 13.1M viewers, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-match World Series drew 15.71 million viewers on Fox, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This represents the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded viewership growth for two consecutive years.

Counting the opening game broadcast on Univision, the total American average reached 16.1M. The total World Series average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1M in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew 8.09M viewers, an 8% increase over the previous year and Fox’s strongest playoff performance after 2017.

Major League Baseball reported that the World Series was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in 16 different languages.
